St. Albans man arrested after 19-mile police chase

GEORGIA — A 54-year-old St. Albans man was arrested for multiple charges following a 19-mile police chase early this morning.

Police say they attempted to stop a vehicle near the area of Georgia Shore Road at around 1:35 a.m.

The driver was identified as Lendon Johnson.

Johnson failed to stop and led police on a vehicle pursuit.

Police say he was ultimately stopped by utilizing spike strips on Mill River Road.

Johnson was placed under arrest at the time.

He was processed and lodged at the Northwest State Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.

Police say he is due in court today to face charges of excessive speed, grossly negligent operation, and attempting to elude in a grossly negligent manner

Johnson was also found to have an active arrest warrant out of the state of Texas for assault on a family member.
