ST. JOHNSBURY – The Caledonia Christian School began the holiday season with their 41st annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.
For the past nine years, the school together with the Department for Children and Families’s department Family Services Division collected food donations for local families.
“This is an incredible gift to give to our families,” said local Family Services District Director Emily Carrier. “We are so thankful the Caledonia Christian School thinks of our families every year.”
Before they began, students stapled a letter, asking to donate food and leave it on their doorsteps, to 300 paper bags which they distributed to neighbors around the school.
Students picked up the filled bags, sorted the donations and put boxes of food together.
Church members helped assemble the boxes, adding perishables such as fruits, vegetables and dairy products before delivery.
Thanks to the community members, staff and students, this year over 30 boxes of food were distributed to local families.
