East Burke man arrested for simple assault, DUI #3 in Lyndon

LYNDON — A 50-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges following an incident in Lyndon yesterday.

An assault was reported near the intersection of Park Avenue and Maple Street at around 9:35 p.m.

Police responded to the area and met with a 21-year-old man from Lyndon, who identified himself as the victim.

Police say the suspect, identified as Clifford Humphrey Jr., of East Burke, had fled the scene prior to their arrival.

Humphrey was later located by police at his home.

Police say he showed multiple signs of impairment and was subsequently taken into custody for DUI #3, criminal DLS, and simple assault.

He was transported to the St. Johnsbury barracks and processed.

At the conclusion of processing, Humphrey was lodged by Probation and Parole.
