Icy road causes single-vehicle rollover in Wheelock

WHEELOCK — Police say icy road conditions caused a vehicle to roll onto its roof, blocking a road in Wheelock this morning.

Police responded to the single-vehicle crash on Minister Hill Road at around 11:25 a.m.

A 2013 Kia Sorento was on its roof blocking the whole narrow roadway.

Police say the driver was trying to make his way up a steep icy hill and lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle began to slide backward, hitting an embankment and rolling onto its roof.

The road was temporarily shut down because the vehicle was halfway up the steep hill covered in thick ice, making it difficult for tow trucks to retrieve it.

The vehicle was eventually removed in a safe manner.

There were no injuries resulting from this crash, police say.
