Police: Ryegate man arrested for assault and threatening bodily harm with firearm, knife

RYEGATE — Policed say a 51-year-old man from Ryegate was arrested today for assaulting a victim numerous times and threatening them with a weapon.

Police say they began an investigation into David Darling Jr. after receiving a report of numerous domestic violence incidents starting in October 2019.

According to the report, police found that Darling threatened bodily harm with a firearm on one occasion, and a knife on another.

Police also say Darling physically assaulted the same individual numerous times on multiple occasions.

Darling was taken into custody and transported to the St. Johnsbury barracks, where he was fingerprinted and photographed.

He was cited to appear in court on March 23 to answer the charges of 1st degree aggravated domestic assault with a weapon, and domestic assault.
