Police: St. Johnsbury man arrested after firing gun at household member

ST. JOHNSBURY — A 31-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges following an incident in St. Johnsbury on Saturday.

Police were dispatched to a situation on Moose River Drive at around 8:45 p.m.

Police say they found that Miguel Aponte, of St. Johnsbury, had a firearm and discharged it toward a household member before they arrived.

Aponte was taken into custody and transported to St. Johnsbury for processing.

Police say he is facing charges for first-degree aggravated domestic, reckless endangerment, and three counts of cruelty to a child under 10.

He was later lodged at NERCF for lack of $5,000 bail.

He was scheduled to appear in court today to answer to the charges.
