Police: St. Johnsbury man fired shotgun at duck, hitting forklift juvenile was operating

St. Johnsbury — A 51-year-old man was charged with reckless endangerment following an incident in St. Johnsbury on Saturday.

The incident took place on Memorial Drive at around 1:30 p.m.

Following an investigation, police allege that James Murray shot a shotgun at a duck on a small pond.

Police say beyond the pond were several buildings, cars, and at least one individual.

It was also found that at least one of the pellets from Murray’s shotgun hit the forklift a juvenile
was operating, nearly hitting him.

He was cited into court for reckless endangerment.

State Police were assisted by Vermont Fish and Wildlife.
