Snow and ice cause single-vehicle crash in Sheffield

SHEFFIELD — A 28-year-old man from New Hampshire was involved in a single-vehicle crash after his pickup truck hit a guardrail in Sheffield yesterday.

Police responded to the crash which took place on Interstate 91 north at around 8 p.m.

According to the police report, the driver, identified as Joseph Bernitt, of Newfield, NH, lost control of his vehicle because of the accumulation of snow and ice on the side of the road.

Bernitt’s truck hit the guardrail, removing the front left tire from the 2017 Toyota Tacoma.

Police say he was not injured in the crash.
