WATERFORD — A 22-year-old man is facing multiple charges following a police chase in Waterford on Sunday.

Police were alerted to a domestic disturbance that took place on Duck Pond Road at around 10:57 a.m.

Police say Francis Lawler, of Waterford, had left the home in a white Subaru WRX when they arrived.

They observed the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on VT Route 18 headed towards St. Johnsbury.

Police initiated a traffic stop but Lawler refused to stop his vehicle, police say.

The pursuit which lasted around 4 miles reached speeds in excess of 90 miles-per-hour.

Police say Lawler’s vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and eventually lost one of the tires.

He was taken into custody and transported to the St Johnsbury barracks for processing.

After processing, he was released with a citation to appear in court for the charges of gross negligent operation, reckless endangerment, excessive speed, and aggravated attempt to elude.
