Congressional delegation recognizes United States Service Academy nominees from St. Albans

ST. ALBANS — U.S. Senators Patrick Leahy, Bernie Sanders, and Representative Peter Welch recognized 22 young Vermonters who are nominated to United States Service Academies to be members of the Class of 2024.

At an annual reception in the Cedar Creek Room at the Vermont State House, nominees on Saturday received nomination certificates signed by each member of the Vermont Congressional Delegation.

This year Matthew Bayard, and Julia Horton, both of St. Albans were nominees.

Matthew Bayard, from the U.S. Military Academy, and Julia Horton from the U.S. Naval Academy, were nominated by Leahy, Sanders, Welch through a competitive vetting process.
