SWANTON — A 57-year-old man was arrested following a crash in Swanton.
Police were notified that a vehicle crashed into a fence on Middle Road on January 28, at around 2:00 p.m.
Witnesses told police that the driver appeared intoxicated and had left the scene on foot.
Police say John Morrill of Swanton was believed to have been the driver of the vehicle and they located him on Spring Street in Swanton.
He briefly fled on foot but was quickly apprehended and arrested without further incident.
According to the report he showed signs of impairment and was transported to the St. Albans barracks for processing.
Following an investigation, police allege that Morrill had been the driver of the involved vehicle.
He was subsequently charged with DUI #2 and leaving the scene of an accident.
He was released with a citation to appear in court to answer his charges.
