Driver charged after clocked doing 94 mph on Route 78, Highgate

HIGHGATE — A 18-year-old driver is facing charges for negligent operation and excessive speed, following an incident in Highgate yesterday.

Police say they were actively patrolling the towns of Swanton and Highgate at around 10:00 p.m.

They observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of Route 78, by Carter Hill Road.

Police say they clocked the driver doing 94 miles-per-hour in the posted 50 miles-per-hour zone, 44 miles over the posted limit.

The driver was processed roadside and issued a citation to appear in court for the above offenses.
