FLETCHER — A 24-year-old man from Fairfax was charged with third-degree arson following an incident in Fletcher on Wednesday.

Authorities were notified of a car fire on Ellsworth Road at around 10:40 p.m.

Police say they met with the Fairfax Fire Department and observed a vehicle in the driveway that had sustained fire damage.

Following an investigation, it was believed a plastic bottle containing gasoline had been poured on the windshield and hood before being ignited.

Police say a passerby had alerted the homeowner of the fire and it was quickly extinguished.

The vehicle sustained significant damage to the exterior.

The investigation led to an ex-boyfriend of the vehicle owner.

Police arrested Wayne Butchino today and he was charged for the offense.

Butchino was lodged at the Northwest Correction Center.
