HIGHGATE — A 54-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges after an incident in Highgate yesterday.

Police were notified about an ongoing family fight at around 5:45 p.m.

While en-route to the home, the complainant told police that the person of interest left the home in a black Jeep Liberty.

Police say they located the vehicle and identified the driver as Anthony C. Machia, of Highgate.

As the troopers spoke with Machia about the initial incident, they say they detected a moderate odor of intoxicants emanating from him.

Police subsequently arrested Machia for the suspicion of driving under the influence and was brought to the St. Albans barracks for processing.

After investigating, police concluded that Machia also committed a crime of a 1st degree aggravated domestic assault and interfering with access to emergency services.

He was lodged at the Northwest Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail.

He was scheduled to appear in court today to answer to the charges.
