Police: Richford woman facing charges after cutting dog with knife

RICHFORD — A 25-year-old woman was arrested following an incident in Richford on Friday.

Police were notified of a dog that was slashed on its side by a knife in an apartment at around 11:30 a.m.

According to the report, Olivia Lavalette, of Richford, was responsible for cutting the dog with a kitchen knife after it presented behavioral issues.

Following an investigation, police say that she was in violation of conditions set forth by a judge.

She was processed at the St Albans barracks and issued a second citation to appear for the
violation of conditions and is set to appear before the court on August 10, and a citation for the charge of animal cruelty with an issuance to appear before the court in August.

Police say that the dog was brought to BEVS in Williston for treatment, and is expected to recover fully.
