ST. ALBANS — A 23-year-old man was charged with careless and negligent operation of a motor vehicle following an incident in St. Albans on Saturday.
Police say they observed a dark-colored Dodge Truck heading west at a high rate of speed, traveling east on Route 36 near Bellevue Carriage Road, at around 4:40 p.m.
The truck was partially in the eastbound lane on the sharp curve and was clearly out of control, police say.
They immediately turned around to stop the vehicle but the driver appeared to be attempting to flee and was passing vehicles at a high rate of speed, continuing west on Route 36 toward the Route 104 intersection.
Police pulled over the vehicle at the intersection due to high traffic and the driver stopped without further intervention.
The driver was identified as Nicholas Hale, of St. Albans.
