Richford man accused of stealing ice outside Dollar General

RICHFORD A 55-year-old Richford man was cited for petit larceny yesterday, after a bizarre incident at the Dollar General. 

Police say they were tipped off that a man was trespassing at the Dollar General in Richford on Saturday at around 4:45 a.m.

Later, police identified the man as 55-year-old Dale Peddle. 

He was allegedly was going through the dumpster, taking items out, and lining them up on the lawn.

Police say he had also gone to the chest freezer outside the store and stole 2 bags of ice that normally cost $2.10/bag.

Police say prior to their arrival on the scene, he loaded the items into a wheelbarrow and fled towards the Troy Street trailer park.

Peddle was located by police at his residence and cited for petit larceny.

According to the report, he told police he took the ice because the freezer was left unlocked.
