BERKSHIRE — A 19-year-old man from Richford has died after a crash involving a tractor-trailer unit in Berkshire yesterday.

Police responded to the scene on Richford Road at around 11:30 a.m.

According to the report, Bryan Fortin, 40, of Berkshire, was headed east towards the Pleasant Valley Farm.

As Fortin neared the entrance, he slowed and began turning into the farm.

Police say at the same time Skyler Tatro, was traveling east on Richford Road behind Fortin.

“Tatro was traveling at a speed greater than the turning TT Unit,” Sgt. Derek Rolandini said in a statement.

As Tatro neared the rear of the truck, he applied the brakes and his vehicle began to skid, Sgt. Rolandini said.

Tatro was unable to stop before crashing into the rear of the truck.

He was severely injured in the crash and was initially transported to Northwest Medical Center, and later transferred to the UVM Medical Center.

Once at UVM Medical Center Tatro succumbed to his injuries, authorities say.

Police are still investigating this tragic incident.
