ST. ALBANS — Police are requesting an arrest warrant for a 37-year-old Sheldon man on multiple charges following an incident in St. Albans on Friday.

Authorities say they observed Charles Bonyea driving with a criminally suspended license on South Main Street at around 8:40 a.m.

When officers attempted to stop Bonyea, he accelerated and fled.

Police say he was driving a black 2009 Nissan Maxima.

Bonyea drove through the parking lot of Maplefields on Route 104 and then fled north on Route 104 and Route 105 at speeds in excess of 100 miles-per-hour.

Police say the pursuit was terminated on Route 105 entering Sheldon due to his negligent operation and disregard for public safety.

The arrest warrant requested by police for Bonyea is on criminal charges including eluding a police officer, grossly negligent operation, excessive speed, and operation after suspension.
