St. Albans man arrested after breaking into Holy Angels Catholic Church

ST. ALBANS — A 20-year-old man was arrested after a burglary at a local church.

Police responded to Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street in St. Albans for a burglary in progress yesterday at approximately 9:25 p.m.

Arriving officers say they saw a male matching the description of the suspect running south on Edward Street.

Officers made contact with the suspect, who was identified as Trevor Hartigan, of St Albans.

After a brief struggle, police say Hartigan was taken into custody.

He is facing charges of burglary, unlawful mischief, resisting arrest, assault on law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

Hartigan was lodged at Northwest State Correctional Facility on $1,000.00 bail and was scheduled to appear on Franklin County Court today.
