ST. ALBANS — A woman is facing numerous charges after a bizarre incident this morning in St. Albans.
Police say they attempted to stop a vehicle on Lake Street at around 10:43 a.m. that had already fled the scene of a crash on Main Street.
Police identified the driver as Julie Holcomb, 44, of St. Albans.
Police say Holcomb tried turning into the Food City Parking lot, where she first struck a telephone pole, then a fire hydrant, then several parked motor vehicles.
Police say she then rammed a police cruiser.
Police, fire department, and public works officials all responded to the scene to deal with the various facets of the incident, including the fire hydrant being snapped off.
Police say one officer sustained minor injuries in the crash
Police arrested Holcomb as she showed signs of alcohol impairment, and processed her for DUI.
Police say she is facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident, DUI, attempting to elude a police officer, and possibly careless and negligent operation.
Due to one of the St. Albans cruisers being involved in the crash, State police were called in to conduct a motor vehicle crash investigation.
Anyone with information about this case is being asked to contact the St. Albans Police Department.
