Suspected drunk driver crashes into tree in Fairfax

FAIRFAX — A 70-year-old Swanton man was cited for DUI after hitting a tree in Fairfax yesterday.

Police responded to the crash scene which took place on Route 104 near Nichols Road at around 3:23 p.m.

Witnesses told police the driver of the vehicle was driving slow, then drifted off the road and hit the tree.

Police identified the driver as Michael Allard.

EMS was tending to Allard and advised that they could smell alcohol on him, police say.

According to the report, Allard told police that he had two drinks at the VFW and was driving home.

He was transported to Northwestern Medical Center for further treatment.

Police say Allard was processed for DUI and cited to appear in court on December 2.
