Swanton man charged for fatal crash

FRANKLIN — Police arrested a 47-year-old Swanton man in connection to a fatal crash which took place back in September.

The St. Albans Police Department announced today that following an extensive investigation into the fatal crash that killed Robert Young and Lori Latulippe on September 24, they have arrested the surviving operator, Shawn Tardy.

Tardy is charged with two counts of gross and negligent operation of a motor vehicle with death resulting.

He was arraigned at the Franklin County Superior Court and subsequently released with conditions set by Judge Kline.

In addition, Tardy was issued Vermont traffic citations for texting and driving, speeding, no insurance, no license, operating under suspension, failing to drive to the right, altered inspection sticker, inspection sticker not assigned to vehicle, vehicle not inspected, and defective equipment.
