GEORGIA — A 31-year-old Swanton man is facing multiple charges following an investigation by police.
Police say they made contact with the driver of a tractor-trailer unit on the shoulder of the southbound lane of I-89 at around 9:07 a.m.
The driver told police that his vehicle had been hit by a white pickup truck which then fled the scene at high rates of speed.
It was reported that this pickup truck sustained damage that may have caused the airbags to deploy.
At around 9:16 a.m, police were notified of a separate crash involving the same white pickup truck, this time hitting a large commercial style box truck in the southbound lane.
The driver of the white pickup truck was identified as Wilfred Sullivan.
Following an investigation, police allege that Sullivan was driving under the influence of drugs.
He was charged with DUI – drugs, negligent operation, leaving the scene of an accident, and violation of conditions of release.
