HIGHGATE — A mother wanted by police for kidnapping was arrested attempting to cross through the US port-of-entry in Highgate this morning.

At around 1:35 a.m., police say they received a call from US Customs advising that two individuals were attempting to cross into Vermont.

Police say US Customs discovered that one of the individuals, a juvenile, had been flagged in NCIC as kidnapped.

They identified the other individual as 39-year-old Lucy Robertson, the juvenile’s mother.

She had an active warrant stating to be held and not released.

Police say the juvenile was in custody of the State of California since January of 2017.

Robertson had allegedly taken the girl and fled the country.

She was lodged at Chittenden County Correctional Facility on $25,000 bail for the above offense.
