36-year-old man dies after falling at Stowe waterfall

STOWE — A New York man died after falling at a waterfall in Stowe on Wednesday.

Police, EMS, Mountain Rescue, and Fire personnel responded to Bingham Falls for a report of an unknown rescue call at around 12:30 p.m.

It was reported a person fell into the water and had not resurfaced.

A second person who also was in the water was rescued by a bystander.

Additionally, two Stowe Mountain Resort emergency responders also responded to the scene to assist.

Once on scene, Stowe Police, Mountain Rescue, and EMS immediately went down to the falls area to start rescue efforts.

The victim was located in approximately ten feet of water.

Stowe Mountain Rescue personnel extricated the victim from the water and resuscitation efforts were started by EMS personnel.

The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified as Daniel Davis, age 36, from New York, NY.

The victim was visiting Vermont with his family.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Stowe Police Department and the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Emergency personnel cleared the scene at approximately 4:00 p.m.
