Driver charged following ATV crash with serious injuries in Eden

EDEN — A 26-year-old Johnson man was charged following an ATV crash with injuries in Eden on Sunday.

The single-vehicle crash took place on Route 100 near the intersection of North Road at around 5:48 p.m.

Police identified the driver of the ATV as James Abare, who was transported to Copley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries when they arrived.

The passenger, Lucas Gleason, was transported to UVMC by DHART with life-threatening injuries.

“Alcohol and speed appear to be the factors in this crash,” a statement issued by the police reads.

Police are still investigating this case.

Abare was issued a citation to appear in court to answer to the charges of DUI #2 and gross negligent operation.
