ST. ALBANS — Money is coming into a local GoFundMe fundraiser started to help cover the cost of treatment after a Marine was stabbed multiple times by his roommate on Thorpe Avenue in St. Albans.

On Veterans Day, Nick Lucianno suffered multiple stab wounds and was struggling to breath while being transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center.

After multiple surgeries to repair the carotid artery in his neck, Luciano suffered a stroke and is unable to move the left side of his body.

After raising almost $15,000, the fundraiser organizer Brittany Sweet has increased the donation goal, as the injuries were more serious than expected.

“Physical therapy is going to be a long process and the extent of recovery is still unknown at this time,” Sweet wrote on GoFundMe.

To date, 259 people have donated.
