CHARLOTTE — Police responded to a reported “laser strike” on an aircraft in Charlotte yesterday.
Police say that an aircraft was hit with a laser pointer one mile south of Shelburne Air Park Road, at around 6:42 p.m.
The area was searched by police but they did not locate any suspicious activity.
Police say whoever knowingly aims the beam of a laser pointer at an aircraft in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States, or at the flight path of such an aircraft, shall be fined a maximum of $250,000, or imprisoned up to five years, or both.
