Driver arrested for DUI #2 after two-vehicle crash in Waterbury

WATERBURY — A 59-year-old Shelburne man was arrested for his second DUI after a crash that took place in Waterbury yesterday.

Police responded to the two-vehicle collision at the intersection of South Main Street and Elm Street at around 5:25 p.m.

One of the vehicle operators, identified as Philip Chapell, was displaying signs of impairment, police say.

According to the report, Chapell was driving the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Police took Chapell into custody and transported him to the Middlesex barracks for processing.

He was cited to appear in court to answer to the charge of DUI #2.
