BOLTON — Police responded to fire at a home in Bolton last Wednesday.

The fire broke out on 88 Bolton Valley Access Road at around 11:08 p.m.

Police say this address was the business formerly known as the Ski Shop and owned by Bolton resident Kevin Lynch, 61, of Bolton.

When firefighters arrived they discovered heavy fire coming from the second floor of the structure on the north and west sides.

Several area fire departments were dispatched to the scene to assist in the firefighting efforts.

Police say two people who may have been living in the upstairs apartment were found outside the structure and were transported to the hospital for treatment.

A man who was transported in serious condition with substantial burn injuries was not yet able to verify his identity, police say.

A woman who was transported has been identified as 61-year-old Patricia Skelly, of Montpelier.

She was treated and released.

Police say the business had been closed for several years and according to the property owner, the building should have been vacant.

The building is considered a total loss valued at $170,000.

Police say that the fire started on the west end of the second floor and are still investigating the cause of the fire.
