MONTPELIER — Green Up Vermont recently announced the hiring of Kate Alberghini as their new Executive Director.
Alberghini brings over two decades of marketing and organizational event experience.
Alberghini joins Green Up from her position as Marketing and Communications Manager at Green Mountain Valley School.
She has also spent time as a marketing specialist for the State of Vermont in the Chief Marketing Office, and director of creative services for Norwich University.
In addition, she is the creator and sole producer of the annual Vermont Women’s Expo.
“My career has ultimately been built around serving Vermont through the promotion of various aspects—going to school here, living here with all of the amazing state opportunities and programs, and working here by helping to promote hundreds of local businesses,” Alberghini said. “I am extremely excited to use my skills to continue the beautification of Vermont and to educate generations to come on the importance of Green Up Day.”
Green Up Vermont is a non-profit, private organization whose mission is to raise public awareness about a litter free environment, culminating with a statewide clean up event called Green Up Day.
Always the first Saturday in May, Green Up Day takes place in all corners of the state, with over 240 towns participating, 24,000 volunteers of all ages helping, and 300 schools engaged. In 2018, volunteers collected 225 tons of litter and 5,561 tires on Green Up Day.
