Police: Montpelier resident killed in single-vehicle crash

SOUTH BURLINGTON — A 70-year-old man from Montpelier was killed during a single-vehicle crash in South Burlington this morning.

Emergency workers responded to I-189 for a report of a vehicle off the roadway at around 9:25 a.m.

The vehicle involved had left the road off the shoulder of I-189 headed west.

Police say it traveled several hundred feet in the grassy area off the right-hand shoulder and ultimately came to rest in a patch of trees.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as Michael Minoli, of Montpelier.

He was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

Police say the cause of the crash and the circumstances surrounding it are still under investigation.
