WOODBURY — A Woodbury man is facing numerous charges after police say they investigated a report of child abuse.

Police say they originally received a report of possible child abuse that took place in the town of Woodbury, on September 29.

Subsequent investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at 27-year-old Joel Sargent’s residence.

Police say evidence recovered from the residence supported statements made during interviews conducted by the Department for Children and Families at the Lamoille County Special Investigations Unit in Hyde Park.

Sargent was ultimately arrested for two counts of charges of unlawful restraint, cruelty to a child, and domestic assault.

He appeared in the Washington County Superior Court on Monday, where he pled not guilty and was released on conditions.
